Robots play a key role in making people's lives easier and better, but not without a possibly dangerous cost under disguise. Modern technology allows the interaction between robots and humans to become stronger, taking the quality of human lives to a higher level. It may be said that the application of these artificial intelligence machines brings more benefits than drawbacks.
There are various advantages to using robots. If properly designed and programmed, these devices could work 24/7 like 'never-complaining slaves' whose masters are, of course, humans. In fact, the practical use of artificial intelligence in manufacturing has been ongoing since the latter part of the twentieth century, with robots installed on assembly lines, massively turning out products ranging from automobiles to food to drugs. In addition, these increasingly indispensable tools can be used to perform harmful tasks that would put a person at risk if that person were to undertake them, which is clearly beneficial. Robots have also served scientific purposes, such as the robotic arm of the Endeavor--a NASA space shuttle. As a whole, technology makes it possible for today's robots to deliver their services with such efficiency that it seems too good to be true.
However, the influence of robots on human workers could be negative, even dangerous, impact on society: unemployment. The reference is made in particular to manufacturing. Although the use of robots can yield higher profits for the manufacturer, the increased unemployment which this creates is likely to put many people out of work. As a result, the more robots are being used in place of human workers, the more difficult it is for the jobless to be hired. When the worst comes to the worst in the time to come, the problem may be a matter of dangerous reality. For instance, if only one human operator is needed to control a robot capable of carrying out 100 people's work, there would not be some sort of social unrest among other 99 unemployed workers.
Despite that robots might bring risks, it is now believed that the advantages of using robots outweigh the disadvantages. Thanks to robotic technology, the relationships between humans and machines are so strong that people's living standards in general are getting higher than never before seen. Nevertheless, just because robots can benefit human society today, it does not mean this development will not backfire tomorrow.
