Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is easier for parents raising children nowadays than 50 years before. Use reasons and specific examples or details to support your opinion.

If you think that it is easier for parents raising children nowadays than five decades before, think again! Try to explain why these days many people decide to get married later in life; and why most parents prefer to have fewer children. Between then and now, parenthood has changed a lot and has become more challenging in view of two factors: more money and less time.
The first challenge is money, or the lack of it. Most modern parents are trying to make their children's lives as easy as possible, and this means a wide range of expenses which ordinary families cannot always afford. It is not only that children need to be fed well and clothed well but also that they expect to be educated well. Take higher education, for example. For low- and middle-income families, sending a son or daughter into and through college is a huge financial burden seldom experienced by parents when television was not even invented. Apart from that, many children turn out to be such epidemic consumers of new products and services that it is difficult for parents to cope with the spending.
Not having enough time for children is the second challenge, referring in particular to both parents being employed in full-time jobs. Among other things, family meals are becoming rare. So much so, today's parent-child communication is not as usual as before and children begin to feel that kind of freedom which did not exist half a century ago. Accordingly, parents are no longer commanders-in-chief of the family, but children are. This can be seen in the way parents obey their children. In short, the hard part is that parents spending less time at home are losing control over their children.
On the whole, it is more difficult raising children in the modern environment because parents need to spend more money but have less time for their children. Such things used to be very different from your grandparents' time when getting married early in life and having numerous kids in the family were quite common.
