For young people, saving is the right thing to do if they are not financially prepared to spend on things like traveling and vacation. Figuratively speaking, money looks better in the bank than in a plane ticket. Spending money on pleasure trips may bring some sort of happiness, of course; but the habit of saving will be a guarantee for greater happiness in the future.
There are random reasons to spend the money one has on traveling and vacation in new places, instead of saving money for the future. Firstly, working life is stressful, and nothing relieves stress as much as a change of landscapes, weather, cuisines, and people far away. Secondly, it is said that traveling and vacation invoke inner wisdom in youngsters and make them smarter. Thirdly, they are where they have been because the experiences they indulge in tend to become their identities. Fourthly, life being short, young people do not even have the certainty that they will live until they are old. Fifthly, life is much more than simply making money and saving money without spending some money now and then, and the money spent on traveling and vacation may be worth it. Finally, traveling and vacation cost money (and a lot of money at times), but when looking beyond just the credits and debits from the bank account, having a holiday spirit is rewarding mentally and emotionally far beyond any paycheck can.
Nevertheless, young people must learn to gain control over their money now or the lack of it will forever control them in the future. Often enough, a simple lesson that is hard to learn is the time to save is when they have some. Paradoxically, they are not supposed to save what is left after spending (on traveling and vacation, for example); but they are supposed to spend what is left after saving as a habit. Besides, young people need to educate themselves about money and saving so as to set up themselves for a better future. Imagine how much one could have saved if one did not spend a great deal of money on those “unnecessary” things like routine traveling and vacation. Unfortunately, one might forget that it is not only about how much money that one makes, but mainly about how much money one gets to save from it. The good news is that small amounts saved regularly add up to a meaningful sum in the end. If any fool thinks that saving money is wrong, then who wants to be right?
In conclusion, there is nothing wrong about spending money on traveling and vacation, but it is more important to have the habit of saving. Young people had better learn that a dollar saved now is a dollar earned in the future. The worst thing about pleasure trips is spending money that they do not have because they are in for an unhappy future..
